Meet Nathalie Garfinkle

Nathalie Garfinkle is one of those enviable people who can stay up until 1:00 a.m. playing video games and still be awake and alert enough to report to work at 7:30 the next morning, but perhaps since she has been working at Awakenings Espresso Café even before the official grand opening she has the morning routine down to the point where it is instinctual instead of having to rely on memory.

Nathalie, who recently graduated from high school, moved to New Hampshire from Montreal, Canada in the sixth grade. While she likes the Lakes Region, she is looking forward to her next move - to Baltimore, Maryland - because of the promise of an exciting nightlife and a density of cultural activities. Nathalie is moving to pursue a degree in Illustrations and perhaps Graphic Arts, but she says she will wait until she sees which classes she enjoys best before she determines what direction to take with her artwork.

As a coffee drinker since age 11, it is not only fitting that Nathalie works at the Café, but also appropriate that the Café has given her a venue to show her artwork and has paved the way for her to begin accepting commissions from folks who perhaps came in for just a latte but left with a drawing in one hand and a hot cup in the other.

As for her favorite Awakenings drink, Nathalie says, "A Livin' Latte with Soy Milk is pretty much as good as it gets."

When she's not working at Awakenings or the String 'Em Up Bead Shop, Nathalie enjoys watching Law and Order and hanging out with friends. "I like just sort of bouncing around…seeing what's happening."
